Who Uses the Weeks Ago Calculator?

Agile and Scrum Teams

Sprint retrospectives run on exact weekly cycles, typically 1, 2, or 3 weeks. Use this calculator to find the start date of any past sprint. Quick links: 1 week ago, 2 weeks ago.

Payroll and Finance

Weekly and bi-weekly payroll periods, four-week billing cycles, and 13-week fiscal quarters are all week-based. For calendar-month-based billing, see the Months Ago calculator.

Marketing and Analytics

Campaign performance is often compared week-over-week. Knowing the exact date range for any past week lets you pull the right data slice from your analytics platform without guessing.

Health and Fitness

Training programs, nutrition plans, and medical follow-ups run on weekly schedules. Find when a 4-week program started, or when a 12-week treatment course began.

How the Weeks Ago Calculator Works

Each week is treated as exactly 7 days. The calculator multiplies the week count by 7 and subtracts the result from today's date in UTC. Because weeks are always 7 days, there is no ambiguity around month lengths or DST. The result is always the same day of the week as today, a precise number of weeks in the past.

Weeks vs. Months: Why Weeks Are More Precise

A "month" is between 28 and 31 days. A "week" is always exactly 7 days. For recurring schedules on a fixed weekday, counting in weeks gives the exact calendar date every time. For contract periods that follow the calendar (a lease from the 1st to the last day of a month), use the Months Ago calculator instead.

  • 1 week: exactly 7 days, always the same day of the week
  • 4 weeks: 28 days (not the same as 1 month)
  • 13 weeks: approximately 1 quarter (91 days vs. 90-92 actual calendar days)
  • 52 weeks: 364 days (a full calendar year is 365 or 366 days)
